President's Message

Fukui Canon Materials Inc. began operations in 1992 as the Fukui Works of its predecessor, the former Copia Corporation, in the chemical products business, focusing on diazo-related products and materials for copiers and printers. In 2003, the company changed its name to Canon Finetech Inc., maintaining a strong presence in OPC (organic photoconductor) raw materials for electrophotographic applications. Building on the core competencies developed in this field, the company was spun off in July 2017 to expand into new chemical business areas. Aiming to contribute to the prosperity of the world and the happiness of humankind, we continue to strive to realize the Canon Group's corporate philosophy of kyosei, or harmonious coexistence. The synthesis, purification, and mass-production technologies developed for OPC raw materials are now being applied to electronic device materials for OLEDs and semiconductors, as well as to functional coatings that provide lenses and glass with optical, hydrophilic, or water-repellent properties. We are committed to actively expanding into these new business areas while carrying forward the Canon Group's enduring corporate DNA of respect for humanity, an emphasis on technology, and an enterprising spirit.

As one element in realizing kyosei, the evolution of our chemical technology and the material technology derived from it is indispensable. This innovation not only makes people's lives richer and more convenient, but also plays a key role in addressing environmental issues and SDG-related initiatives that have come to the forefront in recent years. With our deeply ingrained spirit of enterprise and focus on differentiation through technology, Fukui Canon Materials will continue to deliver new technologies and products that delight customers around the world.
